Summary: 138 runners took advantage of the resurgence of spring after several April snowstorms extended the 2007 winter longer than runners would have liked. The men's race was led by a trio for several miles with Masaru Furukawa, Jack Pilla, and Matt Dall setting the pace. Masaru eventually pulled ahead and then Jack left Matt by 8 miles. Matt however reclaimed second in the final miles. Finishing times for the three were 1:22:04, 1:22:46, and 1:23:22. The women's race was over at the starting gong with world class triathlete Kim Loeffler claiming the top spot and 4th overall in 1:24:04. Her time set the 28-year-old course record by almost a minute. The race for second was also shared by three in the early miles of the race - Angie Difilippi, Dot Martin, and Sheila Ormond. Race familiarity proved helpful as past Rollin Irish champions Angie and Dot finished ahead of Sheila in 1:32:45, 1:33:45, and 1:35:06 respectively. The other notable performance of the day was Cindy New (also a previous Rollin Irish champion) who blew away the 50s age group record with a solid 1:35:13, which was incidently good for 5th place. Congratulations are in order for GMAA members Masaru Furukawa (1), Matt Dall(2), Jack Pilla(3), Angie Difilippi(2), and Dot Martin(3) for finishing in the top 3 of the first performance race of the year and earning a free pair of running shoes at the Skirack.
